Gail Eugene Suter
SHERBURN — A celebration of life service for Gail Eugene Suter, 85, of rural Sherburn, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, at the United Methodist Church in Trimont, Minn. Burial will be in Welcome City Cemetery, rural Welcome, Minn.
Gail was called to his eternal rest Saturday morning, Dec. 11, 2021, at Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont, Minn. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Gail Eugene Suter was born March 13, 1936, in Martin County, Minn., to Herbert and Elsa (Mathiason) Suter. He was a 1954 graduate of Fairmont High School. Gail then attended the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture, graduating in 1956. After graduating, he was an exchange student with the U of M studying in Sweden where he worked on a farm. On May 23, 1959, he was united in marriage to Carol Gorden at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minn. After their marriage they farmed by Kiester, Minn. until moving to a farm near East Chain where they raised crops and milked cows. In 1978, they moved to a farm near Sherburn where he continued to farm. Gail was also employed at Armours in Fairmont. He then attended Mankato Vocational School for tool & die. Gail was then employed at Toro in Windom for many years. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church including serving as chairman of the board for a number of years. He served on the Elm Creek Township Board. In his youth, he was a 4-H and FFA member. Gail was a past director for the State I-H Chapter 15 and was active at Heritage Acres and belonged to the Antique Tractor Club. His hobbies included travel, fishing, collecting toy tractors, gardening, and beekeeping. He is survived by his wife, Carol Suter; three daughters, Kathy Martinson (Denny Looft) of Fairmont, Minn., Lorie (Conrad) Zoeller of rural East Chain, Minn., Betsy (Brian) Atwood of Clive, Iowa; son, Brian (Julie) Suter of Sioux Falls, S.D.; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Vicki) Martinson, Jennifer Becker, Angie (Kevin) Ritter, Eric Zoeller, Bethany (Bryce) Scott, Karen Suter, Megan (David) Wyatt, Jack Atwood; six great-grandchildren, Angel, Lily, Rosie, Tyler, Chloe and Chester; siblings, Beverly (John) Borntrager of Trimont, Roger Suter of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Karalyn (Darrell) Furland of Fairmont, Maralyn (Gary) Krumwiede of Madelia, Joyce (Jerry) Simon of Fairmont, Evelyn (Chuck) Rudolph of East Chain, Sylvia (Jim) Pytleski of East Chain, Peggy (Chuck) Haugen of Granada, Bob (Linda) Suter of Rochester; brother-in-law, Bob (Carole) Gorden of Winona, Minn.; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Gail was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Elsa Suter; granddaughter, Allison Zoeller Brown; sister-in-law, Sandy Suter; father and mother-in-law, Calvin and Olga Gorden; and other relatives.
