Cesar Palacios was born June 10, 1962, to Delia Cantu. He grew up in South Texas and was the middle child of 5 children. He graduated from Edinburg High School in 1981 and continued his schooling at Texas State Technical Institute and became a certified scrub tech in 1982. He completed his registered nurse degree from University of Texas Pan American in 1992. He continued his career as an operating nurse until his death. Cesar married the love of his life, Jan, on May 27, 1995, and instantly gained two stepdaughters, Brandi and Brianne. Cesar was proud to be married to Jan and was sure to tell anyone who would listen, “that’s my beautiful wife.”

Cesar and Jan enjoyed vacations that took them to see the Caribbean, Florida, and Texas. They enjoyed camping, hiking, and outdoor activities. Throughout the years, he enjoyed coaching his daughters in basketball, shooting hoops in the backyard, and taking his family on vacations. He enjoyed fishing, even though he wasn’t very good at it. He loved his family dearly and loved spending time with them, especially his wife, daughters, and grandkids. He was looking forward to the arrival of his twin boy/girl grandkids in January. If he wasn’t with his family at home, you would find him at work with his OR family, whom he loved dearly. Most of the time you could find him singing and dancing to music while getting the OR ready for surgery. He was known for his “Cesar-isms” such as: “don’t drown in a glass of water,” “always duck when a camel spits,” “I am the mop,” “I beg of you,” and “you’re the best.” When Cesar wasn’t working or spending time with his family you could find him meticulously caring for his lawn or cooking behind the BBQ pit, calling himself a “barbacologist.” You could also find him yelling at the TV as he was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, avid Texas Longhorn fan, and Iowa Hawkeye fan. Left to cherish Cesar’s memory is his wife of 26 years, Jan; daughters, Brandi (Joe) Irmiter of Ankeny, Iowa; Brianne (Brett) Tigges of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; grandkids, Allie Jo, Isaiah, Reagan, and Evan; brothers, Mario (Olga) Palacios of Alamo, Texas, Sergio (Eva) Palacios of Weslaco, Texas, Hector (Flor) Palacios of La Blanca, Texas, and Cynthia (Ralph) Cantu-Garza of Edinburg, Texas; sister-in-law, Kelly (Joe) Schutter of Lakota, Iowa; brother-in-law, Ryan (Tina) Boettcher of Algona, Iowa; in-laws, Denny and Judy Boettcher of Lakota, Iowa; many nieces and nephews. He was welcomed into heaven by our Heavenly Father and his mother, Delia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Cesar’s name to support a future nursing scholarship in memory of Cesar. www.lakeviewfuneralhome.net
