Elaine T. Friederichs

MADELIA — A family graveside service for Elaine T. Friederichs, 85, of Madelia, Minn., formerly of Sherburn, Minn., will be held in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Breckenridge, Minn. Elaine will be laid to rest next to the love of her life, Peter.

Elaine died Sunday morning, Nov. 28, 2021, at Madelia Health in Madelia, Minn. Messages of sympathy may be sent to the family online at www.kramerfuneralhome.com.

Elaine Theresa Neubauer was born Nov. 19, 1936, to Henry and Eunice (Schermerhorn) Neubauer in Wahpeton, N.D. She received her education in Doran, Minn. On April 8, 1953, she was united in marriage to Peter Friederichs at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fox Home, Minn. After their marriage they lived near Breckenridge, Minn. They later moved to Casper, Wyoming, until moving to Sherburn, Minn. in 1965. In 1968, she was employed at Yurcek Hardware Store in Sherburn until 1977 when they purchased the P & J Motel until selling it in 2006. In 2006, they moved to Madelia to be near their family. Elaine was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Madelia and a former member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. She was CCW Circle Chairman and funeral chair at St. Luke’s. She was very active in church life throughout they years. She loved bowling, and card club, having coffee and visiting with the girls in Sherburn and Madelia. Pete and Elaine loved to travel, their highlight being a trip to Norway and Germany. She loved spending time with family including the foster children that they had. Christmas was her favorite holiday which was fitting because she also loved to shop.

She is survived by her three children, Mae Jones of Madelia, Minn., Douglas (Dorie) Friederichs of Albuquerque, N.M., Theresa (David) Laidig of Madelia; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, JoAnn Benharus of Fergus Falls, Minn., Henrietta Heng of Barnsville, Minn., Henry Neubauer of Casper, Wyo., Eunice Leinen of Sundance, Wyo.; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter on Dec. 25, 2011; daughter, Geraldine Friederichs; daughter-in-law, Lynda Friederichs; son-in-law, William Jones; brothers, John, Edward, Ray, Howard, Lawrence and Leo Neubauer; sisters, Florence McCallister, Helen James, Marie Bailey, Catherine Stroh, and Rosella Mass; and other relatives. Special thanks go to Living Meadows in Madelia, Madelia Health, family and friends, and others for their support.
