Mark ‘Choc’ Allan Walters
FAIRMONT — A celebration of life service for Mark “Choc” Allan Walters, 69, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome, Minn. Burial will be in Center Chain Cemetery, rural Fairmont.
Mark was called to his eternal rest Saturday morning, Nov. 27, 2021, at Mayo Clinic Health System in St. James, Minn. after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Church in Welcome. His family asks that people follow the CDC recommendations of wearing masks to the visitation and service. Mark “Choc” Allan Walters was born Feb. 6, 1952, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of Jacob and Velma (Mulso) Walters. He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1970, and excelled in baseball, football, and basketball. After high school, Mark attended Mankato State University and upon returning to Fairmont, Mark worked various jobs including Fairmont Railway Motors and retired from Ag-Co in Jackson. Mark also enjoyed playing slow pitch softball for Robo Car Wash and Gunther’s teams. Mark married Julie Zeitz on May 22, 1982, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairmont, and to this union two children were born. Mark loved to spend time hunting and fishing with his brothers and friends and enjoyed going on their annual fishing trips with Julie and family to Black Duck Lake near Orr, Minn. Mark is survived by his wife of 39 years, Julie Walters of Fairmont; daughter, Aja (Ryan) Ross of Sherburn, Minn.; son, Anthony Walters of Fairmont; grandchildren, Henrik Ross and Rielle McNicol; siblings, Craig Walters and Todd (Patty) Walters all of Fairmont; sisters-in-law, Linda Arndt of White Bear Lake, Minn., and Ellen (Tom) Millington of Prior Lake, Minn.; nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Velma Walters; brother, Gary Walters; paternal and maternal grandparents; aunts and uncles; mother and father-in-law; and other relatives. The family prefers memorials be given to: Martin County Conservation Club.
