David L. Wojtanowicz

FAIRMONT — Private family services for David L. Wojtanowicz, age 73, of Fairmont, Minn., are being held at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Due to COVID recommendations, face masks are required and the number of attendees will be monitored.

David passed away Monday morning, March 1, 2021, at his home in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice in lieu of flowers.

David Leroy Wojtanowicz was born February 17, 1948, in St. Cloud, Minn., to Leo and Olga (Suurmeyer) Wojtanowicz. He attended St. Cloud public schools and graduated from St. Cloud High School. David furthered his education at St. Cloud State University where he graduated with a degree in accounting. David enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1971 and was stationed in Minot, N.D. He achieved the grade of E-4 before earning his honorable discharge in 1976. On Feb. 24, 1979, David was united in marriage to Teresa VanNote at the Fairmont Methodist Church. This union was blessed with three daughters, Sara, Amy, and Diana. The couple resided in Fairmont and shared 42 years together. David was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Fairmont where he served on the Church counsel as the financial secretary for many years. He was also a member of the Fairmont Jaycees. During his free time, David enjoyed bowling, fishing, and playing board games as well as lottery scratch-offs. He especially loved the time he was able to spend with his family playing card games like “garbage.” When he wasn’t busy with other things, David was known to do “circle-circle” word search puzzles for hours at a time. Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Teresa Wojtanowicz; daughters, Sara Wojtanowicz (and significant other, David Meixell), Amy (Nathan) Windt, and Diana (Bob) Johnson; grandchildren, Lexus Wojtanowicz, Ethan Windt, Emma Windt and Ella Windt; honorary grandchildren, Zoey Theobald, and Brooklynn Mendenhall; sister, Sandra Sohr; mother-in-law, Lorraine VanNote; sisters-in-law, Pat (Alan) Voigt, and Karen (Doug) McLellan; brothers-in-law, Duane VanNote, and Bob (Penney) VanNote; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
