Larry Lester Osborn was born Nov. 10, 1943, in Fenton, Iowa, the son of Lester and Leona (Letcher) Osborn. Larry attended school in Fenton and graduated from Sentral High School in Fenton.

After high school, Larry went to Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he attended car mechanic school and, after he completed that, he worked at Mel Carlson Chevrolet garage. Larry joined the National Guard in 1964 and also worked part time for Ken Reiman.

On July 25, 1964, Larry was united in marriage to Ardis Ziemer at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman, Minn. Together the couple would make their home in Fairmont and later on a farm near Granada, Minn. To this union, three children were born: Garry, Jay and Tammy.

Larry worked for 3M in Fairmont, retiring after 42 years of service.

He was a wonderful woodworker, and made sure to attend as many events for his grandchildren as he could. In his free time, Larry enjoyed throwing a line in the water hoping for the next big fish to bite.

Larry was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Ardis Osborn of Fairmont, Minn.; children, Jay Osborn and his wife, Amy, and Tammy Lopez; grandchildren, Jordan Hanisch, Derek (Bri) Riewe, Anthony Lopez, Ashlyn Osborn, and Jace Osborn; one great-granddaughter, Tynley; two sisters, Jan Tennyson and Shirley Olsen; daughter-in-law, Krysta Osborn; as well as many other extended family and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Leona Osborn; stepfather, Archie Whitman; son, Garry Osborn; brothers-in-law, Marland Ziemer, Eldon Ziemer, Gary Ziemer, Morgan Tennyson, Don Hansen, Ervin Schultz, and Kent Olsen; sisters-in-law, Delores Schultze, Julane Hansen, Alice Riggle and Lois Ziemer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Larry’s name to St. James Lutheran church and school or charity of choice.
