LEDYARD — Arden “Ardie” Leroy Kramers-meier 78, of Ledyard, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, due to complications from pneumonia while vacationing in Mesa, Ariz. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at First United Methodist Church in Swea City. Burial, with military honors will be at Highland Home Cemetery, rural Ledyard.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2020, at Oakcrest Funeral Services, Bancroft.

Ardie was born Jan. 19, 1942, to Alfred and Hulda (Clausen) Kramersmeier. Ardie lived his entire life on the family farm outside of Ledyard, where he raised some livestock and grain farmed. After graduating from high school, Ardie enlisted in the U.S. Army. His enlistment ended early due to a parachute accident that left him partially disabled.

Ardie liked to gather with friends, to garden and enjoyed sharing the bountiful harvest that his gardens produced. Reading the paper, napping, playing cards, visiting the casinos and bingo became favorite pastimes, along with traveling and being with family.

Ardie is survived by his sister, Marilyn (Bob) Miller of Pennsylvania; daughters, Ronda Cooper of Winnebago, Minn., Jody (Bryan) Roarson of Sloan, Iowa, Sheila (Bruce) Helland of Winnebago, Michele (Clint) Winter of Sherburn, Minn., Mary Beth Schaal (Monty) of Nokesville, Va.; special friend Emily Eisenman; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ardie in death were his father, Alfred; mother, Hulda; brother, Gerald; life-partner, Geraldine Schaal; son, Monty Schaal; and son-in-law, Keith Cooper.
