David Oliver Meyer was born on October 12, 1953 to Oliver and Eunice (Rosenwinkel) Meyer in Fairmont, Minnesota. He was baptized on October 21st at Fairmont Community Hospital by Pastor Ringhand of Trinity Lutheran Church, Welcome, Minnesota. He lived at home on the farm north of Ceylon, Minnesota with his loving family including adoring sisters, Jenny and LuAnn, until the age of six. At that time he moved to Faribault, Minnesota where the special care he needed could be provided. He later moved to St. Peter, Minnesota. In 1990, David moved to a new home in Sherburn, Minnesota, COR Services (Community Options & Resources). For 29 years he was loved and cared for by a very special family of friends and caregivers at COR. David also attended a day program at STEP, Inc. in Fairmont, where he enjoyed leisure and community activities. He had a special joy for car rides, annual trips to Twins games, Hot Wheels, all kinds of music, his nightly bowl of ice cream, and his well-loved teddy bears.

David brought joy to all those around him with his smile and touch. He has left a special mark on the lives of his family and friends. In his passing he continues to bless others through organ and tissue donation to Lifesource in St. Paul, Minnesota.

He is survived by his parents, Oliver and Eunice Meyer of Fairmont, Minnesota; three sisters, LuAnn (Lon) Langford of Eugene, Oregon, Dixie (Gayle) Gedstad of St. Paul, Minnesota and Laurie (Kyle) Hunt of Chanhassen, Minnesota, Brother-in-Law Dennis Bremer of rural Fairmont; along with many nieces and nephews, cousins and relatives.

David was preceded in death by his sister, Jennifer (Meyer) Bremer; maternal grandparents, Adolph and Lillian Rosenwinkel and paternal grandparents, George and Minnie Meyer, many other relatives, and his best buddy Steven.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the people at COR and STEP, and to David’s physician, Doctor Green.
