DUNNELL — A Celebration of Life service for Eric A. Hagen, 55, of Arizona, formerly of rural Dunnell, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn, Minn., with Rev. Steven D. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Lake Fremont Cemetery, Dunnell, Minn.

Eric was called to his eternal rest on Friday morning, Aug. 18, 2017, at Friendship Village under the care of Hospice of the Valley in Tempe, Ariz. Eric Alan Hagen was born Oct. 3, 1961, in Whittier, Calif., to Robert and Ethel Hagen. He was baptized on Aug. 5, 1962, at the Lutheran Church of the Master in La Habra, Calif. The family lived in La Habra, Calif., until 1968. They moved to rural Ceylon, Minn., and then to a farm in rural Dunnell.

He was confirmed on April 20, 1975, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dunnell, Minn. Eric attended Sherburn Elementary and graduated from Sherburn-Dunnell High School in 1979. He was active in band, choir, football, track, and enjoyed golfing. Eric attended Pipestone Vocational College and majored in Lumberyard Management.

Eric worked at Cash Lumberyard in Sherburn until 1983, when he moved to Arizona and did landscaping for many years. Most recently, he worked at Home Depot in Chandler, Ariz., until his illness began in December of 2016.

Eric loved to watch all sports and enjoyed going golfing and grilling. He did a lot of home improvements and built a lot of things.

Eric is survived by his parents, Bob and Ethel Hagen of rural Dunnell, Minn.; brother, Kurt (Laurie) Hagen of rural Sherburn, Minn.; the love of his life, Kandice Heppler of Mesa, Ariz. and her son and daughter, Lauren and Austin; nieces, Jamie (John) Parenteau of Alameda, Calif., Jennifer Hagen of Minneapolis, Minn., and Christopher Hagen of Sherburn, Minn.; uncles, Dr. Frank McDaniel of Cypress, Calif., Reinold (Barb) Hagen of Fairmont, Minn.; aunt, Jeanne (Herb) Lohse of Oakdale, Minn.; several cousins, other family and friends.

Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents; aunt, Ruth Lerner; uncle, Bill McGann; and other relatives.
