Ross H. Baxter

FAIRMONT — Services for Ross H. Baxter, 80, of Fairmont, MN, will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at the Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont. Burial will be following the service in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery in Fairmont.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2017, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and will continue one hour prior to the time of service at the church. Ross passed away Thursday evening, July 6, 2017, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ross Henry Baxter was born on September 8, 1936, in Bloomington, Indiana, the son of William and Ida (Loucks) Baxter. As a young boy, Ross and his family moved to Minnesota where Ross attended country school.

On March 25, 1958, Ross was united in marriage to Janice Hall in Blue Earth, MN. Together the couple made their home on an acreage near East Chain where they would be blessed with three children, David, Kevin, and Karen.

Ross worked for Stokley VanCamp in the cold storage warehouse for many years, retiring in 1994.

Ross was known for his wonderful sense of humor and loved telling a good joke. Family was extremely important to him and he looked forward to spending time at family get togethers. Ross also enjoyed planning family vacations and treasured the memories made throughout the years traveling to various places. He also had a great passion for cars and was in awe of the new technology that came out each year.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Janice Baxter; children, David (Sonia) Baxter, Kevin (Carrie) Baxter and Karen Foster; grandchildren, Davia, Vania, Azalia, Moriah, Jeshua, Zephaniah, Jordan, and Jared Baxter, Curtis and Christopher Foster, and Cassidy and Wyatt Baxter; brothers-in-law, Vernon Baker, Dean Gamber, Harlan (Joan) Hall, and Terry (Laura) Olson; sister-in-law, Margery (Keith) Larson; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Ross was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” and Ida Baxter; siblings, Dorothy Thompson, Evelyn Baker, Wanda Tuten, Betty Gamber, William Baxter, and Kenneth Baxter; sisters-in-law, Louise Olson, Arlene Baxter, and Esther Baxter; brothers-in-law, Turner Thompson and W.C. Tuten; son-in-law, Gary Foster; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lowell and Ruby Hall.
