FAIRMONT — A Celebration of Life service for Luella A. Waskosky, 92, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial will follow the service in Lake Belt Township Cemetery, Ceylon, Minn. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the church.

Luella passed away Monday, May 8, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Luella Augusta Minnie Schultze was born Jan. 25, 1925, in Tenhassen Township, to Herman and Anna (Thiesse) Schultze. As an infant, she was baptized into the Lutheran faith and later confirmed at St. Paul’s in Wilbert, where she attended school.

On March 6, 1945, Luella was united in marriage to Howard Houfer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. This union was blessed with six children: Joanne, Mary Lou, William (Bill), Steven, Jennifer and Michael. They farmed in Rolling Green Township until moving to Ceylon in 1973. Howard passed away May 11, 1975.

On Nov. 6, 1981, Luella was united in marriage to Thomas Myles Waskosky. They made their home together in Fairmont. Luella was employed at various jobs in Fairmont and also worked for United Foods for 25 years.

Luella was a member of Immanuel LWML, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, and was an active volunteer for many years. She enjoyed music, traveling, playing cards, and going out for coffee with friends.

Luella loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed baseball and watching the Minnesota Twins.

Those left to cherish her memory include: her children, Joanne (Allen) Sukalski of Blue Earth, Minn., Mary Lou (Jim) Sherman of Truman, Minn., Steven Houfer of Ceylon, Minn., Jennifer (Greg) Moore of Welcome, Minn., and Michael (Carol) Houfer of Lindstrom, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three stepsons, Don, Dean and Bryan Waskosky and their wives; sister-in-law, Elvera (Bremer) Goetsch; other extended relatives and friends.

Luella was preceded in death by her husbands, Howard Houfer and Tom Waskosky; son, Bill Houfer; sons-in-law, Rick Olson and Gary Oleson; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ervin (Elna) Schultze, Walter (Ruth) Schultze, Welmer (Adela) Schultze, and Herbert (Hazel) Schultze; and brothers-in-law, Andrew Bremer and Arnold Goetsch.
