BLUE EARTH— On June 23 of this year, an apartment fire in Elmore caused considerable damage to the Parkview Elmore Apartments. FAIRMONT – After three failed motions and plenty of discussion, a preliminary 2027 budget for the Faribault and Martin County Health and Human Services was approved 9-3 at their meeting on Wednesday. The crux of the discussion and issue surrounding the budget was the increase in local participation via increased property taxes. The proposed budget asked for an 18.5 percent increase in local participation between the two counties from 2026 to 2027, which would be an additional $1.45 million.
