Code of conduct hearing ends in vain

FAIRMONT— Prior to the regular Fairmont City Council meeting on Monday, the council held a special meeting to discuss the potential code of conduct and city staff standards of engagement. At a special meeting on Dec. 15, 2025, the council asked that a code of conduct be in effect by March 1 and that public input be a part of it. Then on Jan. 16, 2026, the council set the special meeting for Feb. 9 to discuss the proposed code of conduct. Council split on city administrator decision

FAIRMONT— The Fairmont City Council on Monday was tasked with determining the next steps in the city administrator search. Some council members were ready to extend an employment offer to Jason Baker, while others wanted to hold off in order to do a more in-depth examination of the candidate. Baker, the current city administrator of Oronoco, was interviewed along with one other candidate on January 9. FAIRMONT – During the Fairmont Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) meeting on Monday, discussions surrounding potential construction for Jameson Circle on Fairlakes Road past the Fairmont Evangelical Covenant Church picked up again with new information from a construction expert.
