Santa Day on Sunday in Welcome

WELCOME — Cribbage Tournaments will begin at 1:15 p.m. with registration on Saturday, Dec. 13 and Dec. 20 at the Welcome Legion hall. All area cribbage players are welcome to join them for an afternoon of fun.

Santa Day will be from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, at the Welcome Legion hall. The children will do crafts, coloring contest, and have a hot dog snack. There will be photos with Santa and a fire truck and police car to observe. Ceylon Santa Day is scheduled for December 20.

The Circle of Faith Sunday school program will be at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, with a potluck meal to follow. The other Circle of Faith parishes at St. Peter and Trinity will each have services at 9 a.m.

The Lake Promenaders Square Dancers meet at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, at the Shaw home at 804 West 1st Street in Welcome. Dancers and watchers are welcome to join them,

The Welcome City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at City Hall. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, contact City Hall at (507) 728-8740 prior to the meeting.

Condolences to the family of Mildred Gemmill, who passed away recently. She will be missed by family and friends.

Other area cities that are sposoring an event this weekend are: Trimont Farmer’s Market and soup meal at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15. The Trimont Centennial Band will have a Christmas Concert at 7 p.m. The craft items that will be available at the Farmer’s Market are ornaments and card-making for shut-ins to take home. The meal includes soup, chili, hotdish and various Christmas treats for a free-will donation towards the Trimont Food Shelf. The food shelf will also receive proceeds from the Glenn Henriksen Christmas Concert and Sing Along at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. The Ceylon Fire Relief Association will have a Pancake Brunch at from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, in the banquet room of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

A CREST Lunch and Learn will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont, and will have a Christmas Bingo game and lunch. These are free to all senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation for the lunch.

The American Red Cross blood drive will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19 and from noon to 6 p.m. on Dec. 30 at the American Legion Hall in Fairmont.
