Santa event Nov. 30 in Sherburn

SHERBURN — Tonight St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have a Thanksgiving Eve service at 6 p.m., and their partner Church, St. Paul’s in Wilbert, will have a service at 7:30 p.m. These two churches will change their services from November 30 until a new pastor will be found. St. John’s will have one service each Sunday at 8 a.m. and St. Paul’s in Wilbert will have their service at 10 a.m. Other area churches have Sunday services at 10 a.m. for the Regional Worship Center and at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays in December for St. Luke’s Catholic Church. Both of these Churches are in Sherburn. Area residents are welcome to join them.

The Sherburn Theatre will feature “Zootopia 2” at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

There will be a Santa Workshop event from 1 to 4 p.m. on Nov. 30 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center at 212 North Prairie Street in Sherburn. They will have photos with Santa, crafts, games, letters to Santa, a Christmas movie and treats. Plan to attend. This is sponsored by Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center, Bank Midwest, the City of Sherburn, Temperance Lake Ridge, and County Line Customs. Other Santa Days are planned in the area. Dunnell will have Santa Day on Dec. 7, The Sherburn C&C will have a free movie from Dec. 5 to Dec. 7, Sherburn Lions will have a Pancakes with Santa on Dec. 7 at the Martin County West High School cafeteria, Trimont Town Center will have a Santa Day on Dec. 7. Welcome will have Santa Day on Dec. 14 and Ceylon will have a Santa Day on Dec. 20.

A Caregiver’s Support Group meeting will be at 10 a.m. on Dec. 1 at the Sinn CLC in Trimont. Area Caregiver’s are welcome to join them.

An American Red Cross blood drive will be on Dec. 1 at at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. Call 800-733-2767 (800-red-cross) to make an appointment, go online to www.redcrossblood.org or text BLOODAPP to 90999 to make an appointment or find blood drives near you.

The Mayo Mobile Clinic will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 1 and Dec. 3 near City Hall in Sherburn. Call the appointment number at (507) 238-8500 and mention Sherburn Clinic.

CREST Lunch and Learn will have a program from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. The program will be followed by a lunch. These are free to senior citizens in Martin County. CREST does appreciate a free will donation for the lunch.

Sherburn Legion will have its Hamburger Night from 6 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 3. Get a burger, salad and beans for $10. What a deal.

Trimont Food Shelf will get the proceeds from a Ham Bingo at 6:30 p.m. (doors open at 5 p.m.) until prizes are gone on Dec. 4 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. Please bring an item(s) for the foodshelf. Twenty dollars will purchase two bingo cards for all night. Pizza, canned beverage and beer will be available for purchase.

The Martin County West (MCW) Schools will be closed for the Thanksgiving break Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28 but some athletics are planned. The boys’ basketball team will play on Friday, Nov. 28 at Sleepy Eye at 7:30 p.m. The Girls Basketball team will play on Saturday, Nov. 29, at Worthington for the Minnesota West Invitational at 2:30 p.m. The Girls Hockey will also play on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m. at the Fairmont Arena vs Prior Lake. Then on Dec. 2 the Girls Hockey team will play at 7 p.m. at the Fairmont Arena vs Marshall. On Dec. 2 the Boys Basketball team will play at Mankato Loyola at 7 p.m. The Girls Basketball team will play on Dec. 1 at Cleveland at 7 p.m. Good luck, Mavericks.
