Bravo Zulu House opens applications

WINNEBAGO — Bravo Zulu House, the nation’s first all-military sober home dedicated to veterans battling Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and co-occurring addiction, proudly announced Thursday that it is officially accepting applications. This milestone marks a pivotal moment in providing tailored, comprehensive support for those who have bravely served our country.

“This is a day we’ve long awaited and worked tirelessly for,” said Board of Directors member LTC Sam Andrews. “To see our vision become a reality, offering a true sanctuary for healing and brotherhood, is incredibly moving. We are thrilled to open our doors to veterans and are deeply honored to be ready to welcome our first brave resident, taking this vital step on their path to lasting recovery.”

The need for specialized facilities like Bravo Zulu House is critical. Statistics show a significant correlation between PTSD and addiction among veterans, with alarmingly high rates of suicide within this population. Bravo Zulu House aims to bridge the current gap in post-treatment care by providing a safe, supportive environment where veterans can focus on their sobriety while receiving specialized care for their PTSD.

“Our goal is to declare war on PTSD and provide our veterans with the integrated care they deserve, fostering a renewed sense of purpose,” added Andrews. “The support from our community, partners, and donors has been instrumental in bringing this dream to fruition. We invite all eligible veterans to learn more about our program and apply, as we continue to build this life-changing community.”

Bravo Zulu House is now accepting applications for male veterans seeking a path to recovery from PTSD and substance use. The facility is equipped to house up to 12 residents, providing a unique “band of brothers” atmosphere.
