Square dancers meet Sunday

WELCOME — There will be a fish fry from 5:30-7 p.m. (or when fish are gone) tonight, March 8, at the Welcome Legion Hall. This is a fundraiser for the Welcome Summer Festival, which will be held this year from July 19-21. There is an all-you-can-eat price of $20 and there is a lite bite price of $15. The lite bite consists of one fish, two shrimp, baked potato and coleslaw. Plan to attend and help the summer festival committee.

Today, March 8, is also the date for an American Red Cross blood drive from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fairmont High School. To make an appointment or search blood drive locations and times near you, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or go online at www.redcrossblood.org.

Condolences to the families of Jennifer Grefe and Loren Schultz of rural Welcome who passed away recently. They will be missed.

There will be a cribbage tournament Saturday, March 9, at the Welcome Legion Hall. Registration begins at 1:15 p.m. with play starting around 1:30 p.m. Anyone who likes to play cribbage is welcome to join the fun and fellowship. There will be another tournament next Saturday, March 16, same time, same place.

Lake Promenaders Square Dance group will meet 6 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at the Shaw Home, 804 W. First Street in Welcome. Anyone interested in square dancing is welcome to join them.

Midweek Lenten services continue at area churches. Trinity Lutheran in Welcome has the Circle of Faith parishes for a meal at 6 p.m. with services at 7 p.m. St. Paul’s in Welcome has a 6 p.m. meal and Bible study following the meal.
