CEYLON — There will be a 5:30 p.m. service tonight, Feb. 17, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon. They also have a Bible Study at 9:30 a.m. each Tuesday morning. Area residents are welcome to join them for these events.

There is a cribbage tournament today, Feb. 17, at the Welcome Legion Hall, Registration begins at 1:15 p.m., with play starting around 1:30 p.m. Any cribbage lover is welcome the second and third Saturdays of the month until spring.

Ceylon Fire Department Relief Association will have a pancake brunch from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, Feb. 18, in the back room at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill. The menu will be scrambled eggs, pancakes, French toast, sausage, ham and juice for a free will donation to the relief association to help the fire department with much needed equipment.

Condolences to the friends and family of Iowa resident, Eldon Hovick, who passed away recently. He will be missed.

Coffee Lovers group meets from 8:30-10 a.m. every Thursday morning in the extra room at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill. Any man or woman in the area is welcome to join them.

Midweek Lenten services at area churches continue with a 6:30 p.m. Wednesday service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert, followed by a cooperative lunch. Their dual congregation at St. John’s in Sherburn has a 6 p.m. service and lunch. Circle of Faith parishes will gather at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome for a 7 p.m. service. The youth group will serve a meal at 6 p.m. to help raise funds for their summer gathering trip.

The Red Cross blood drive in Fairmont this week was successful with blood donations slightly over their quota. Blood drives in February continue since there is an urgent need for blood now. There will be blood drives from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 27, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, and 1-7 p.m. on Feb. 27, in Lewisville.
