Area sport games ongoing

SHERBURN — The Sherburn Theatre will again feature the movie ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3’ this weekend Sept. 15-17. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Community Options and Resources (COR) Company with offices in Sherburn is offering its employees a special appreciation breakfast/brunch along with other special thank you gifts on Friday, Sept. 15, at the Best Western in Fairmont. They have group homes in Sherburn and surrounding cities which help adults with developmental disabilities. I am sure those essential workers appreciate the thank you.

There will be a Ruby’s Pantry grocery distribution in Sherburn from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Regional Worship Center parking lot. For $25 you can get a trunk full of boxes of food. Check out the Facebook post to see what some of the items will be and get further information.

Tuesday coffee hours in September continue from 8:30-10 a.m. on Sept. 19, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome. Make new friends and see old friends over a cup of coffee and goodies.

Beginning Sept. 20, there will be a showing of The Chosen series beginning 10 a.m. each Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn, with discussions to follow. All are welcome to join them.

A CREST-sponsored Lunch & Learn will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont, with a lunch to follow. This program is free to anyone in Martin County. A donation for the lunch is appreciated.

‘Hamburger Night’ will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Sherburn Legion. The menu includes a burger, salad and baked beans for only $10.

**

Martin County West athletes are continuing their games and meets in September with a volleyball game vs. Madelia at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, in Trimont. Also on Thursday, there is also practice for the Football Cheer Camp from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Sherburn

Elementary School. On Friday, Sept. 15, the cross country team will travel to Mankato Loyola for a 4 p.m. meet and the football team will have an away game with Tracy at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 16, the volleyball team will participate in the Jackson Invitational at 9 a.m. The volleyball team will also have a game in Trimont at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19. The schools of MCW are gearing up for Homecoming Week, Sept. 18-22, culminating with the football game with RTR on Friday night. The seniors will also have a chili feed

fundraiser that night. The candy bar sales fundraiser also kicks off for the elementary students in Sherburn and Trimont from Sept. 18 to October 9 to raise funds for field trips.

There are several upcoming events to mention:

• During the month of September to Oct. 31 the Sherburn Community Chest is fundraising for local organizations. Drop off donations at the Bank Midwest or mail them to Box 504, Sherburn, MN 56171.

• There will be a pancake feed on Sunday, Sept. 24, as a fundraiser for Lori Koerselman and family with expenses due to breast cancer. This will be done by the Sherburn Lions Club and at MCW High School in Sherburn. There will also be a silent auction.

• There is a public hearing at 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, at Sherburn City Hall about the tax assessment to pay for street improvements on Osborne, Lynn, South Main and Cargill Streets in Sherburn.

• Regional Worship Center in Sherburn is accepting vendor applications for their Vendor Fair which will be held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 7. Contact Nancy Urban at (507) 236-6571 or go online atrwc-sherburn@outlook.com.

• Sherburn Civic and Commerce Club is also taking applications for vendors for their Deck the Halls Christmas event which will be held 1-7 p.m. on Dec. 2 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 3, at the Sherburn Community Hall, with decorated Christmas trees and sales of vendor’s items.
