Accident Report
Saturday, August 26
8:42 p.m. — A two vehicle accident at eastbound Interstate 90 and Highway 22, in Foster Township, Faribault County, resulted in a fatality of one person and non-life threatening injuries to other persons who were involved.
According to the State Patrol:
A 2016 ICRP School Bus, driven by Charles E. Cone, age 79, of Waseca, Minn., and 8 female passengers, were traveling eastbound on I-90, when it collided with a 2006 Ford Mustang, driven by Mark A. Tigner, age 55, of Brandon, S.D., that was traveling westbound on I-90. Road conditions were dry. Faribault County Sheriff’s Office, Wells Police Department, Wells Fire Department, Wells Ambulance, Kiester Fire Department, Kiester Ambulance, Bricelyn Fire Department and Bricelyn Ambulance assisted on the scene.
Both the driver of the school bus and the driver of the Ford Mustang were wearing their seat belts. Tigner, the driver of the Ford Mustang, was pronounced dead on the scene, while 7 of the passengers on the school bus were transported to Albert Lea Hospital in Albert Lea with believed non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident for Cone, the driver of the school bus, but it is unknown whether alcohol was a factor in the accident for Tigner, the driver of the Ford Mustang.
