Pancake feed this Sunday
SHERBURN –Midweek Lenten services continue in area churches. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn has 6 p.m. service tonight, March 8, followed by a meal. St. Luke’s Catholic Church has Lenten services at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Circle of Faith parishes will meet at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Area residents are welcome to join any of these congregations for services.
Condolences to the family of Ross Ned Johnson who passed away recently. He will be missed.
This weekend, March 10-12, will be busy in the area. There will be an open house birthday celebration for Lois Ziemer’s 80th birthday from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 11 at the Dunnell Community Hall. If you’re unable to visit her that day, cards will reach her at 230 Wenberg St., Dunnell, MN 56127. Congratulations Lois and our wish is for many more birthdays for you.
From 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, there will be a steak fry supper at the Sherburn Legion. The menu includes choice of ribeye, shrimp, or smoked pork chop, a salad bar, baked potato, and garlic toast. Don’t forget ‘Hamburger Night’ on March 15, at the
Sherburn Legion as well. Sure sounds good, especially when you don’t have to cook supper.
This weekend, March 10-12, the Sherburn Theatre will again featurethe movie ‘Jesus Revolution.’ Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 4 p.m. on Sunday. The movie next weekend, March 17-19, will be ‘The Champions.’
There will be a Lunch and Learn program beginning 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont, with a lunch to follow. This is free to anyone in Martin County. A free will donation for the lunch is appreciated.
Martin County schools will have an early dismissal on March 15 for a teachers workshop.
The FFA group from MCW will have their banquet on Sunday, March 12. On Tuesday, March 14, there will be a large group choir contest in Madelia which MCW will attend.
There will be a pancake feed from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 12, in the back room at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill In Ceylon. Proceeds will help the Ceylon Fire Department Relief Association.
There will be an American Red Cross blood drive from 12:30-5:30 p.m. Monday, March 13, at St. John Vianney in Fairmont. To find blood donation locations and times available, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or go online to www.redcrossblood.org. Other
blood drives in March are: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, March 10, at Fairmont High School, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 24 at Cross Fit in Fairmont. In the month of April there will be a blood drive in Ceylon from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on April 3, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 5 at Truman High School, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 14 at Fairmont Legion, and from 12:30-5:30 p.m. on April 24, at Martin Luther High School in Northrop. Give a little to save a life or three.
The Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, March 13, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, near the city hall building on First St. in Sherburn. Call the appointment number at (507) 238-8500.
In upcoming events there will be a Ruby’s Pantry grocery distribution on March 20 at the Regional Worship Center. Also, there will be a three-meat buffet from 11:30 to 1 p.m. on March 26, at the First Congregational Church in Sherburn. Plan to attend.
