Historical Society meeting Wednesday

CEYLON — Ceylon Area Historical Society will hold their annual meeting at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Portage Bank in Ceylon. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. The president is Ronnie Leiding and the vice president is Tom Bents. The secretary is Greg

Bents and the treasurer is Marilyn Stelter. The other directors are Steven Houfer and Ann Yackle. The museum is open by appointment when one of these board members are contacted. The museum is located next to the bank and across the street from the post office. There are many items from the school, city, and area displayed in the museum.

In February, the Circle of Faith parishes will have Sunday services at 9 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon, and 10:30 a.m. services at Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome.

The WELCA ladies group at St. Peter Lutheran Church is reminded that there will be no meetings until April.

In the last column, the pancake brunch fundraiser for the Ceylon Fire Department Relief Association was given as Feb. 12, but that date has changed since the Welcome Fire Department is having a pancake feed that same day. The Ceylon fundraiser has now been

scheduled for March 12 instead. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend.

The month of February starts on Wednesday this week and there are several Red Cross blood drives in February. There will be a blood drive from Feb. 14-16 at the Best Western in Fairmont, and also a blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. Feb. 27, at St. Paul’s UCC in

Give if you can since there is a drastic need for blood. A unit of blood is needed every two seconds in this country, over 40,000 every day and over 30 million each year.
