The Ranch changing hands

Congratulations to Steve and JoAnn Schmitz on their retirement from the Ranch Restaurant after 41 years and congratulations to Kevin and Sally Schmitz on taking it over! It’s always nice to see our local businesses continue to be strive and extra nice to see them stay in the family. We hope the Ranch has many more years of success ahead!

New year brings new programming

Several local organization are looking to offer new programming in 2023. The Fairmont Opera House, Fairmont Community Education and Recreation, the Red Rock Center for the Arts and the Martin County Library will all be adding some new events to their schedules. Going into the new year, we should remember all that our community has to offer and make a conscious effort to take advantage of these offerings and support our local organizations.

Website to promote community

In a group effort to promote all of the positives in the community, the city of Fairmont, the Chamber, FEDA, CER and a local community member are working to update the Fairmont Area Life website. The new and improved website will debut from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Jan. 12 at the Southern Minnesota Educational Campus in Fairmont. We support this effort of putting out the positives in the community and we’re excited to see what happens as a result.
