Blood drive Monday in Northrop

CEYLON — Wallace Rosenberg, former Ceylon resident, will celebrate his 90th birthday today, Nov. 5, in California. Cards will reach him there at 8237 East Granite Dr., Granite Bay, CA 95746. Congratulations Mr. Rosenberg.

Sunday, Nov. 6, is the official day to return to standard time so set your clocks back one hour on Saturday night.

Sunday services for Circle of Faith parishes during the month of November will change to 9 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran in Welcome, and 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont.

There will be American Red Cross blood drives from 12:30-5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at Martin Luther High School in Northrop, and from 1-6 p.m. Monday at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. Give blood if you are able to as the supply is very low. To make an

appointment or check out locations and times of blood drives in the area, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or go online at www.redcrossblood.org. Get a Rapid Pass at that site the day of your appointment to shorten the time for registration.

Tuesday is election day, so don’t forget to vote if you haven’t sent in your vote already. The polling place for the City of Ceylon is at the Ceylon City Hall and the townships each have a town hall polling place. Most voting is from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Check your polling place.

Ceylon Legion and Sons of the Legion will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday in the back room at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill, with District 2 representatives to decide the merger directions for Ceylon Legion and the disbursement of treasury to charities. All members are urged to attend this important meeting.

Because Tuesday is election day the Ceylon City Council meeting was changed to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Ceylon City Hall. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting without reservations. To be on the regular agenda, please contact the city clerk at Ceylon City Hall or call (507) 632-4653 prior to the meeting date.

Coffee hours continue from 8:30-10 a.m. each Thursday morning in the back room at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill. Tuesday coffee hours will be held 8:30-10 a.m. on Nov. 15 and Nov. 29 at the Sherburn Legion. Area men and women are welcome to join the coffee lovers group.

The ladies group at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert will be collecting donations for the Heaven’s Table Food Shelf until Nov. 20. Non-perishable food or other grocery items or money may be collected. Money should be given to one of the LWML members or officers. Thank you for helping others especially during the holiday season.

• Nov. 11 is Veteran’s Day. World War 1 ended on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Remember veterans of all wars.

• A Holiday Boutique will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Dunnell Community Hall. Proceeds will go to Immanuel

Lutheran Church in Dunnell.

• St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have a fall dinner

from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13.

• Welcome Fire Department will push in their new rescue truck at 1 p.m. on Nov. 19.
