Political forum Oct. 25

SHERBURN – Martin County West Schools are dismissing for a teacher in service at 12:15 p.m. today, Oct. 19. There is a football game at 7 p.m. tonight in Sherburn. The rest of the week there is noschool or sports since it is MEA on Thursday and Friday.

Tonight, Oct. 19, is ’Hamburger Night’ from 5-8 p.m. at the Sherburn Legion Hal. Get a grilled burger with all the fixings, salad, and baked beans for only $10. A burger, then a football game sounds like date night.

CREST Spice of Life funtime for Alzheimer’s patients and caregivers will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the CREST office, 820 Winnebago Ave. in Fairmont. The event is free and about ”Biggest Pumpkin” events. RSVPs are appreciated at the office or by calling (507) 235-3833. The CREST program is also celebrating their 25th anniversary from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at the office in Fairmont. Come, meet CREST staff and board members and have refreshments. CREST offers many programs and resources for help like support groups for Alzheimers, dementia, caregivers, low vision, and Parkinsons. They have Lunch & Learn sessions in Trimont and Sherburn and classes about balance and caregiving. Their services

include transportation, friendly visiting, and home helpers with a group of wonderful volunteers. Their goal is to help participants remain active while living at home. Check out this worthwhile group.

Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, near the city hall building. Call the appointment line at (507) 238-8500 and mention that you want an appointment in Sherburn.

Tuesday coffee hours in October continue from 8:30-10 a.m. at St.Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for fellowship and good coffee.

Sherburn Civic and Commerce group will sponsor a political Forum beginning 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the Sherburn Theatre. Meet and bring questions for local, county, and state representative candidates. Be an informed voter on Nov. 8. Candidates are: For the mayoral office is Robert Roessler. For Sherburn City Council is Sarah Kramer, Brad Ringnell, Carlee Miller and Tessa Ulmen; MN representative, Brad Finstad and Jeff Ettinger; US representative is Bjorn Olson and Marisa Ulmen.

Sherburn Theatre will feature a new release entitled ‘Ticket to Paradise’ this weekend and next weekend, Oct. 21-23 and Oct. 28-30. Show times for both weekends are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Condolences to the family of Roger Peterson who passed away last week. He will be missed.

There will be Trunk & Treat Halloween events from 5:30-7 p.m. on Oct. 31, at Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn, and also 5 p.m. on Oct. 31, west of the city hall in Dunnell.

Regional Worship Center in Sherburn will celebrate their 100th anniversary on Oct. 30, at a 10 a.m. service with special speaker, Rev. Steve Nordyke, who was pastor there for 21 years and is now in Onlaska, Wis. After the special service there will be a meal and fellowship remembering past years.
