Fall Rally on Sunday

CEYLON – This is October already. Everyone please stay safe during this harvest season on the roads, in the fields, in the bins and equipment. Also, watch for slow moving vehicles.

During the month of October, Circle of Faith parishes will share services since there is only one pastor. St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon will have 9 a.m. services and Waverly Lutheran Church, north of Welcome will have 10:30 a.m. services. First Lutheran in Trimont and Welcome’s Trinity Lutheran parishioners will attend at the service nearest them or at the time best for them.

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) Blue Earth Zone will have a fall rally beginning 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. The speaker will be Pastor Hesham Shehab. The Gifts From the Heart collection will be for Heaven’s

Table Food Shelf. The public is invited.

Tuesday coffee hours in October will be held 8:30-10 a.m. beginning Oct. 4, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. Join them for good coffee and great fellowship every Tuesday.

Thursday coffee hours are held 8:30-10 a.m. at Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. All men and women in the area are welcome to join the Coffee Lovers group each Thursday.

The St. Peter Lutheran Ladies group, WELCA, will meet at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday for their monthly meeting.

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon continues their Bible Study at 9:30 a.m. every Tuesday. Area residents are welcome to join them. Our Savior’s has services at 5:30 p.m. Saturday evenings. St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert has services at 9:30 a.m. on

Sundays. The ladies group, LWML, is collecting non-perishable food for the Heaven’s Table Food Shelf until Nov. 20. Thank you for helping make other’s tables full for the holidays. The congregation is excited to have a favorite son as the speaker/pastor for their Oct. 16, Mission Sunday service in the person of Tim Beckendorf who has been working in Botswana with the Lutheran Bible Translators. Plan to join them that day for a special mission celebration in and after the 9:30 a.m. service.

Condolences to the family of Lonny Schmidtke who passed away last week. He was a former Ceylon resident with relatives currently in Ceylon. He will be missed.

The cribbage tournaments will be held in October through March this year. The first month the two dates will be Oct. 8, and Oct. 15, and due to road construction both dates will be in Welcome at the Welcome Legion Hall beginning at 1:15 p.m. with registration. The

registration is $11 and 100 percent goes back to winnings. Plan now to attend. They hope to play some dates in Ceylon when the road construction is done.

Red Cross blood drives in October will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 28, at Cross Fit in Fairmont, and from noon to 6 p.m. on Oct. 17, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome. In November,there will be two blood drives on November 7 at Northrop and at

Upcoming events also include the annual fall rummage and bake sale from Oct. 20-22 at Martin Luther High School in Northrop. There will also be a Halloween event from 2-4 p.m. on Oct. 22, in the back room at Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. There is a fundraiser raffle going on for this event until Oct. 13, with the drawing for prizes on Oct. 15. Get tickets at the bar or city hall or from the committee members for the great prizes.
