Fire department accepting applications

TRUMAN — Truman Farmers Market is held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday at Graf Park. If you are interested in being a vendor, you are welcome. A lot of space, plenty of shade and no charge to set up. If you haven’t checked this out yet, you will be amazed at the different items available.

City of Truman Fire Department is accepting applications for a firefighter. Minimum qualifications are a high school diploma or GED equivalent; must be 18 years of age; have a valid driver’s license; and to live or work full-time within a ten (10) minute response time from the Truman Fire Hall. No experience necessary. Training will be paid for and provided. Applications can be obtained from Truman City Hall, 202 West Ciro St., Truman, MN 56088 or by calling (507) 776-7951. You can also contact Truman Fire Chief Dave Bentz at (507) 236-2749 for an application or with questions. Application deadline is 5 p.m. August 31.

If you’re interested in enrolling your child in preschool this fall at Truman Public School and they are ages, three through five years of age, by Sept. 1, please direct your call to (507) 776-2111 and ask for Jennie Bowers or email her at bowersj@truman.k12.mn.us. The staff are professionals in early childhood development. Most importantly, they will provide a pleasant environment that promotes your child’s growth of self-esteem and confidence in relating to others. Financial scholarships are available.

Anjee Mai cactus clay creation will begin 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the Truman Community Building. This free event is for adults only. Come make and design your own clay cactus.

Norman Wiederhoeft is turning 90 and a party is planned for him from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Truman Community Building. Family and friends are invited to come and wish him a happy birthday. Cards can also reach Norman at 206 N. 7th Ave. E., Truman, MN 56088.
