CEYLON — Welcome Meats will have a grand re-opening under new ownership from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. Congratulations to Troy and Lisa Fritz. Troy is the son of Ken and Jane Fritz, former Ceylon/Wilbert residents. Good luck on your new venture.

Tomorrow, Sunday, May 8, is Mother’s Day. Happy Mother’s Day to all area mothers and those who are like a mother to all of the area children.

Circle of Faith parishes may go to drive through communion from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome or Waverly Lutheran Church, north of Welcome. This communion will also be available next Sunday.

Ceylon City Council will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Ceylon City Hall. All members are urged to attend. There is always a time for public comments or questions at the beginning of each meeting without reservations. Ceylon Legion and Sons of the Legion will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at Legends ll. All members are encouraged to attend.

Upcoming events include Ceylon Clean Up Day on May 21. Curbside pick up will be done for those items with tags. This is a good time to get rid of the junk that may be an ordinance violation later. Check with the city clerk for the accepted and unaccepted items list.

Make sure you plan your vacation for the Ceylon all-school reunion which will be held June 25.

Stick markers are visible along the Highway 263 road. Maybe that means the long over due road construction is not too far off on that bumpy road and into Ceylon. Some of it has been planned since 2017. It is sure to be a mess for a while but it will be nice when it is done.
