Faribualt County talks park updates

BLUE EARTH– “The county parks are open and the demand for reservations at Pihls Park is high,” Public Works director Mark Daly told the Faribault County Board at their regular meeting on Tuesday. “We have applied for a grant which would enable us to add more camping spots, but we have not heard the status of that grant yet.”

Daly also mentioned the recent heavy rains had made it necessary to temporarily close some roads leading to Pihls Park.

Commissioner Bruce Anderson shared the county had received a bid to reroof the building at Woods Lake Park.

“The bid was for $8,132,” Anderson shared. “If the roof is not fixed, the building will continue to deteriorate.”

Sheriff Mike Gormly and chief deputy sheriff, Scott Adams, were at the meeting to ask the commissioners to adopt a Financial Crimes Task Force Agreement.

“This agreement would allow us to work with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to investigate and prosecute identity theft and related financial crimes,” Gormly explained.

The commissioners also:

— Voted to award the bid for electrical work on the courthouse reconstruction project to Laketown Electric Corporation of Mankato, in the amount of $170,000.

— Approved the bid, in the amount of $300,000, from Century Construction Company of Ramsey for the carpentry contract for the courthouse reconstruction project.

Starting at $2.99/week.
