Boy Scouts set fish fry fundraiser
SHERBURN — Boy Scouts Troops 69 and 1069 of Sherburn will hold a fish fry fundraiser from 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 29, at the Sherburn Legion. They would like to raise funds to help with the bus they purchased in 2019 which needs some repairs. There are 25 scouts and 6-8 leaders that will use the bus to transport the scouts all together to activities and summer camps. Using the bus affords the scouts more room for additional members to attend than using several vehicles. Plan now to attend the fish fry on Friday.
Martin County West will hold prom beginning 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 30. Grand March is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and the dance continues until 11:30 p.m. After-prom activities will be held at the high school from midnight to 4 a.m. Sunday.
Saturday is also the last Saturday of the month so it is the day for the men’s breakfast from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Regional Worship Center. All area men are welcome to join them.
Sunday is May 1st and the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn will have a special minister, Kevin Senapatiratne from Christ Connection, at the 10 a.m. service. In the past there has been a Tuesday coffee hours at area churches. The only church which has planned a Tuesday Coffee Hour as far asI know is the Regional Worship Center which will have the coffee hours in July. Several churches have contacted me with regrets and are not planning coffee hours. Please contact me if your church is planning a Tuesday coffee hour and which month you are planning to have the coffee hours and I would be happy to put the news item in this column. Of course any other news items are also welcome. Thanks for helping me with this column. Sharon Rosen at cs2152946@gmail.com or (507) 728-8346 (leave a message).

There will be a Clean Up Day in Sherburn beginning 8 a.m. on May 14. This is only for residents of Sherburn. Curbside pickup items must have a tag and fit in a 5 ft. x 10 ft. area and be placed on the curb. Items placed on the curb before the May 14 date may be repurposed free. There will be a truck behind city hall for residents to bring items for free. Appliances and electronics may be brought to the city hall site for a fee. A list of those things accepted and not accepted is available including non-hazardous waste, furniture, mattresses, auto batteries, scrap metal, small amounts of dried out paint or drywall, or carpet, etc. Those items not accepted include electronics (unless fee paid separately), hazardous waste, liquids, oils, and yard waste. This is a good time to get rid of junk that may be an ordinance violation and charge later.
