Fairmont Robotics/The MegaHertz at World Championships, claims 51st ranking

FAIRMONT/HOUSTON, Texas — The Fairmont High School Robotics Team, Team 2847-The MegaHertz, competed at the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) World Championships from Thursday, April 30 to Saturday, May 2 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.

The MegaHertz qualified for the world competition through their second-place victories in March at the Lake Superior Regional in Duluth and the Iowa Regional at Cedar Falls, Iowa.

The competition consisted of over 600 teams from all over the world, competing in eight divisions, with each division consisting of 75 teams. The MegaHertz participated in the Archimedes Division, which included teams from 24 different states and the countries of Romania, Canada, China, Mexico and Turikye (Turkey).

During two days of qualification matches, the MegaHertz amassed a 4-6 record and were able to play with and against some of the world’s best robotics teams in the process. They finished the tournament ranked 51st in their 77-team division.

The world championship was an incredible opportunity for Fairmont Robotics. The MegaHertz would like to extend its gratitude to the school, sponsors and the community for making it happen.

The MegaHertz looks forward to implementing everything they learned, both on and off the field, from the World-class teams they played and interacted with.

The team’s final event of the season is the Minnesota State High School League State (MSHSL) Tournament on Saturday, May 16, at Gangelhoff Center at Concordia University in St. Paul.
