Spring Clean Up Day next weekend

WELCOME — On Sunday, April 24, the Old 16 Bar and Grill will feature Steve Lang. Check out their specials on Facebook. A reminder that they are now open on Monday afternoon/evening.

Wow, the month of April is almost over and our thoughts are trying to turn to spring if the weather would cooperate. Saturday, April 30, is the date for the spring Clean Up Day in Welcome. Only Welcome

residents may take items to the drop off spot from 8-10 a.m. on Campbell Street behind the fire hall. Please note that the truck will leave when full which may be before 10 a.m. Be prepared to show proof of residence. Unacceptable items are hazardous or toxic materials, waste oil, oil filters, any type of liquid, paints, solvents, yard waste, tires and appliances. For appliances, contact the city hall

at (507) 728-8740. This is a good time to get rid of the junk that may be an ordinance violation/charge later now for free.

The summer festival in Welcome is scheduled for July 16-17 and the committee is selling tickets for a fundraiser with prizes from community businesses and supporters. Prize 1 is a Yeti cooler and two $100 certificates from Welcome Meats and Old 16 Bar and Grill. Prize 2 is Blackstone and $100 from Welcome Meats. Prize 3 is $100 from Old 16 Bar and Grill. Prizes 4 and 5 are each $50 from Tami’s on the Ave. in Fairmont. Prizes 6 and 7 are each $50 from the Welcome Legion. Contact any of the committee members for ticket sales. Each ticket is only $10. The drawing will be held at the

summer festival but the winner need not be present to win. Ticket purchasers must be 18 years old or older. 500 tickets will be sold. Get yours now.

There will also be a vendor show beginning 10 a.m. on July 16 at Keck Park. Vendor charge is $25. Contact Amanda Kleinschmidt by message on Facebook.

A shopping event is planned from 8 a.m. to noon on May 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Crafters and vendors and Nelson Family Designs and Just Wink Photography along with Farmasi and Scentsy will be featured. Plan now to attend.

Saturday, May 7, is also the date for the Welcome Meats grand re-opening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sign up for prizes given each hour such as a Welcome Meats certificate for $100 and a 24 pack of pork patties. You need not be present to win. You will want to be present for a lunch of pork patty with chips, cookie, and a bottle of Culligan water for only $3. Half of the proceeds will be given to MCW FFA. The race cars of Luke Sathoff from Jackson and Parker Anderson from Welcome will be on display at the open house. Sounds like a fun day in Welcome. Just a hint, that’s the day before Mother’s Day which is on Sunday, May 8.
