School play set for this weekend

SHERBURN – The softball team will travel to Red Rock on Thursday for a 4:30 p.m. game. Wow, a sure sign of spring. Saw geese on Temperance Lake and some robins too.

The school play will be held April 1-3 at the Sherburn Theatre. Show times are 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. This year they will present a musical comedy, “The Addams Family.” Sounds like fun and it would be encouraging the school dramatics

group. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students. There will be concessions and a bake sale. Plan now to celebrate April/spring and help a good cause. There is no movie scheduled for this weekend.

The National Honor Society will induct new members Friday morning, April 1, beginning 8:30 a.m. with a light brunch of muffins and juice for the inductees and their families, with the ceremony getting underway at 9 a.m. in the school gymnasium. Congratulations to the new members.

Sherburn Legion has a ‘Hamburger Night’ from 5-8 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month. This month the date will be April 6 at the Sherburn Legion Club. A grilled hamburger and the fixings plus salad bar and beans costs $8. Plan now to attend.

There will be a Caregiver Support Group meeting 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont sponsored by CREST. Caregivers and their families are welcome.

Monday, April 4, is also the date for the Friendship Club potluck at 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. The fellowship time will be a video/movie about Esther produced in Branson, Mo. All area residents are welcome to join them.

Sherburn City Council meeting will be held 5 p.m. Monday at the Sherburn City Hall. All members are urged to attend. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, please contact the city hall

prior to the meeting date.

Condolences to the family of Chantal Plumhoff who died recently. She attended Martin County West High School when she was younger. Gone to soon. She will be missed.

Baseball is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 4, at Mountain Lake, and softball is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Welcome ball diamond. Boys and girls track and field teams will go to Mankato’s indoor track at 6 p.m. that day. On Tuesday, the softball team will play 4:30 p.m. in Welcome and the baseball team will play 5:30 p.m. at Fairmont High School, weather permitting.

This weekend will usher in April, so don’t be fooled on Friday, the 1st. Will March leave like a lion since it came in like a lamb? Easter is not far off.
