Welcome approves auditing quotes

WELCOME — Welcome City Council held their second monthly meeting Tuesday evening, Feb. 15. They approved the quotes for auditing from Burkhardt and Burkardt Auditors of $13,800 for 2021, $15,200 for 2022, and $16,700 for 2023. They also approved a suggestion from the city attorney to add another attorney to their list for their litigation. The wages and health insurance was given a 3 percent raise. They discussed the ball field and wages for an employee with a representative from the Martin County West School District. The suggested wage was for about $20/hour for about 20 hours a week. The new CER manager will be in touch with the city clerk and the approval will be tabled until the next meeting.

A school board member had a suggestion of an employee in mind.

He will contact the board and report back via the CER manager. The question of locking an automated external defibrillator (AED) in the concession stand was discussed and a suggestion of a key pad with a code that would be changed each year was made. The council also agreed that signage about the AED should be on the outside of the door to the concession stand. The council asked if the AED was up to date and certified and the school board will look into that through the CER. They mentioned that no one should be using the

ball park without authorization and coaches or adults in charge being present. They wondered if the coaches and players could clean up the area after events.

The Welcome Historical Society Museum was on the same water line as the house that burned and they were assigned a new water line. The City employee also mentioned that the sealcoating this year is scheduled for the west side of the City. The council reminded the

City employee that there should be one of the employees available or on call in case of emergencies at all times. The City employee said that was what is happening now and will be in the future. The council asked that the City employees ask for time off and the time must be approved by both supervisors. Discussion of the new water meters left to install was also brought up. The next meeting of the Welcome City Council is scheduled for 6 p.m. on March 1 at the Welcome City Hall.

Starting at $2.99/week.
