Pancake breakfast on Sunday

CEYLON – Today, there is a cribbage tournament beginning with registration at 1:15 p.m. in the back room at Legends II in Ceylon. All area men and women who like to play cribbage are welcome. The entry fee goes to the winnings. Next Saturday the tournament will be held the same time at the Welcome Legion Hall.

Ceylon Fire Relief Association will have an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday in the back room at Legends ll in Ceylon. The menu includes scrambled eggs, pancakes, French toast, ham, sausage, juice, milk, and coffee. Carry-outs are available. Donations are accepted and if anyone would like to make a donation it can also be mailed to Box 201, Ceylon, MN 56121. Good food for a good cause. Proceeds will be used for equipment only.

On Sunday, the Circle of Faith congregations such as St. Peter Lutheran in Ceylon have the opportunity to go to a drive through communion from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome or Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome. This drive through communion will also be offered on Feb. 20.

There will be a special 80th birthday party for Russell Deling from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, at Legends ll in Ceylon. No gifts please, your presence will be his present. Cards are welcome as well and will reach him at Box 544, Dolliver, IA 50531. Congratulations Russell, our wish is for many more birthdays.

There are American Red Cross blood drives available in this area for the month of February. Drives will be held Feb. 15-17 at the Best Western Motel in Fairmont; on Feb. 21 in Trimont, and also on Feb. 28 in Welcome. Call early since there is no walk-in times and time slots fill up. The Red Cross is experiencing the worst blood shortage in over a decade. The dangerously low blood supply levels have forced some hospitals to defer patients from major surgery, including organ transplants. 38 percent of the U.S. population are eligible but only 10 percent give blood.
