WELCOME– The Welcome City Council met on Tuesday evening and approved the 2022 fee schedule which is basically the same as last year. The city clerk explained that the water and sewer may be connected at different times but that the fee for both should be paid at the same time. She stated that there was some confusion about the wording of those fees. The designations for newspaper, bank, attorney and insurance was approved and were the same as last year. Committee assignments were also approved as they were last year. They council also approved the agreement with Hildi Consulting which is done every two years that makes sure the fire department has enough funds for pensions. There was no problem, it is just an

approval needed.

The council approved having a public hearing before the February meeting for approval of the grant money applied for. That will be at 6 p.m. on Feb. 1, at Welcome City Hall.

The larger water bills for some residents can be explained separately if the resident calls the city clerk at (507) 728-8740 or stops by city hall.

City employee, Max Longley, reported that the new tires for the skid loader were not available and will be ordered. He also reported that a new hydrant was needed since the old one had problems and then froze.

The next meeting of the Welcome City Council will be held 6 p.m. on Jan. 18, at city hall in Welcome.
