City council meets Tuesday

WELCOME – Have a safe and fun New Year’s Eve and a great 2022.

Welcome to the new owners and managers of the former Korte’s Bar and Grill which will now be called Old Sixteen Bar and Grill. Renee Amis and Chris Taylor will be managing it. They anticipate opening some time in mid January. Watch for further information.

Waverly Lutheran Church and First Lutheran Church in Trimont will exchange service times in January. Waverly Lutheran services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Sundays and First Lutheran Church will change their Sunday morning service time to 9 a.m. for the month of

January. The other Circle of Faith congregations, Trinity Lutheran in Welcome (10:30 a.m.) and St. Peter Lutheran in Ceylon (8:30 a.m.) will keep their usual service times. St. Paul’s United Church of Christ will have their service at 9:30 a.m. Area residents are welcome to join these congregations for worship.

Welcome City Council will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Welcome City Hall. All members are urged to attend the meeting. There is always time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting without reservations. Those wishing to be on the regular agenda should contact the city clerk prior to the meeting date by calling (507) 728-8740. City of Welcome is urging residents to make appointments for installation of the new water meter. It only take a few minutes. Call Max Longley or the city hall.

Cribbage will be played the second Saturday beginning 1:15 p.m. on Jan. 8, in the backroom at Legends ll in Ceylon. The next Saturday, Jan. 15, it will be held in Welcome at the Welcome Legion Hall. This is a good way to spend a winter afternoon.

Condolences to the family of Mark Theobald, former resident of Welcome and a student at Welcome School. He will be missed.
