‘Shop with a Cop’ coming up

WELCOME – Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving Day, and if you are driving this weekend, please drive safely.

On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, the Welcome Legion had a special evening. Congratulations to two Legion members who received awards that night for continuous membership at Welcome Legion

Post 553. Vernon Rosenberg has been a member for 60 years and Harold Borchardt has been a member for 50 years.

Sherburn/Welcome Police Department is happy to announce that they will have a ’Shop with a Cop’ program this year with some conditions. Last year they had to cancel the program and this year they will have a revised version due to the concern about children in large groups in close proximity to others. The police will give children in need for grades kindergarten to sixth grade, from the Martin County West School District, gift cards to help make their Christmas happier. They can shop for themselves and their family. Officer

Nicholas Smith will head the program and asks that anyone knowing a child or family in need economically or socially in those grades at MCW to nominate them for the program by sending names and why they should be nominated and need help, to him at the Sherburn/

Welcome Police Department. Mail to 21 East First Street, Sherburn, MN 56171 or call (952) 292-5898 or go online at nsmith@Sherburnwelcomepolice.org. Please let him know or send donations by Dec. 10, so arrangements can be made. He hopes to distribute the cards by December 17. Donations are appreciated so that as many children as are nominated may receive help for a happy holiday. Their goal is $50 per child. Help if you can.
