Senior potluck Monday

WELCOME — Sunday is Halloween and the last day of October. There will be a ‘Trunk and Treat’ event for children from 2-5 p.m. Sunday downtown between First and Second Street on Dugan Street. Fun and goodies for the children to have a safe Halloween. Thank you to those who organized this event.

The senior citizens will meet noon Monday for a potluck meal. Bring a dish to pass and eating utensils. All area residents are welcome to join them, especially if their town does not have a senior citizen group.

There will be a Red Cross blood drive in Northrop from 12:30-5:30 p.m. Monday at Martin Luther High School. There will also be a blood drive in Sherburn from 1-6 p.m. on Nov. 8, at the Regional Worship Center just south of I-90. To make an appointment or for further

Tuesday is Election Day so don’t forget to vote. Townships will vote at their townhalls and Welcome residents will vote at the Welcome City Hall. Because of the elections, the city council will meet 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the city hall in Welcome.

Condolences to the families of Marlin Smith and Bradley Williams from Welcome. Our community was also saddened to learn of the death of long-time Welcome business owner Curt Godden.

With November beginning this coming week the residents are reminded that some upcoming events are scheduled for November. The deadline for the Pheasants for Vets fundraiser is Nov. 8, so purchase a bird at the Welcome Legion to help purchase the

Veterans Day dinner for veteran’s homes. The Veterans Day supper will be held Nov. 11 at the Welcome Legion. The annual turkey dinner at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, with the menu consisting of

turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, corn, cranberries, buns, and pumpkin pie. Take-outs will be available. Circle the date and plan to attend.

Did you miss the open house from MnDOT (MN Department of Transportation) this past Tuesday or Wednesday to learn about the Highway 263 project? Information is available on the project website, mndot.gov/d7/projects/hwy263ceylon/. The project is planned for 2022.
