Election next week

TRUMAN — City of Truman has proclaimed Red Ribbon Week now through Sunday. It’s all about drug and alcohol abuse prevention, awareness, and trying to get kids and adults to make more healthy, positive choices. This is by a group of Truman high school students known as “Empower.” They would like to see you display a red ribbon at your home or business to show your visible stand against drugs.

Truman City Council will meet 5:30 p.m. Monday. All meetings are open to the public, with time for questions/comments.

Next Tuesday, Truman Public School District #458 will be asking district residents to cast their vote to revoke for existing motor approve referendums and replace them with one referendum of the same amount, and to revoke an existing capital projects levy one year before it is set to expire, and replace it with a levy for new projects. Voting will take place 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Truman Public School Library.

Trinity Lutheran Church youth group will host an election day supper from 5:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday. Come and enjoy homemade chili or chicken noodle soup, peanut butter or egg salad sandwiches, bars, and beverage, all for a donation. This meal has been an election night tradition for many years and many community people have attended. Come for a great meal and community fellowship.

GIFT is back, which means growing in faith together. Trinity Lutheran Church is holding a free after-school program for all-age students where they can learn about the Bible, eat, play, and have fun. It will be held 2:15-5:15 p.m. Wednesday. Participants can ride the bus from school to Trinity, but students must wear a mask on the bus. Register by tomorrow. Registrations are on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/trinitylutherantruman and form at http://bit.ly/GIFT2021-2022. If you have any questions, call Ashley Parish at (507) 829-9747 or Allison Klassen at (507) 381-0963.

The Spruce Up Truman group is going to be decorating street light poles in downtown and the former Jaycee Park for the holidays. They would like monetary donations to help with a project. An account has been set up at Profinium Bank in Truman if you would like to help with the festive project.

Starting at $2.99/week.
