Truman hears department updates
TRUMAN– At the Truman City Council meeting on Monday evening, Mayor Terry Bentele said the city-wide clean-up, which took place on Sept. 25, went well and that the dumpsters were full by 11:30 a.m.
“I think we had about 44 people involved in hauling things out. It went very well,” Bentele said.
He said he thinks a lot of people will look forward to the next one. Council member Patty Truax said she knows a lot of people were looking forward to this one.
Truax said she’s working on getting another clean-up set up for next fall as well.
Moving to other matters, the council also heard quarterly reports from several departments.
Brant Brown, utility foreman, said they’ve completed various projects at the campground and have cleaned a portion of the sewer lines around the city. They’ve also assisted the street department in patching roads.
“We replaced a fire hydrant on W. Ciro that was hit by a truck,” Brown said.
He said they’ve also replaced the sidewalk at the water plant from the fire hydrant install and have completed their three year inspection at the waste water treatment plant and are working on the items that need to be corrected.
Police chief Justin Jobe said they’re working on a property that was given its 10 day notice for a public nuisance violation on North Central. He said if the problems aren’t fixed they’ll issue a citation.
“We helped with the bike rodeo that the active living group put on a few weeks ago,” Jobe said.
Jobe said otherwise it’s been peaceful.
Street superintendent, John Bosshart said his department has winterized Rosburg diamond and have begun sweeping leaves.
“We have to winterize the pool, the campground and Graf Park yet, too,” Bosshart said.
In other news, the council consider C&B Operation’s proposal to purchase property from the city/EDA land. Five acres are owned by the EDA and the rest of the road is owned by the city.
City attorney, Derrick Greiner, was present to help facilitate what they should include in the proposal to C&B. Since council members Brandon Mosloski and Jake Ebert were absent, the council decided to table the mater until next meeting.
