Ceylon awarded DEED grant
CEYLON — Ceylon has been awarded a grant from the Minnesota
Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED)
Small Cities Coronavirus Community Development Block Grant
Program along with 15 other communities. Most of the grants, like
Ceylon’s, will go toward broadband improvements. The amount of
Ceylon’s grant is $983,105. The grants are part of the federal
CARES Act in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The virtual and distance learning
experiences have proven that broadband is vital to small cities residents. City of Ceylon has
contracted with LTD and
plans for broadband improvements are underway. The internet in
Ceylon has been sorely lacking in speed and reliability for some time. Congratulations Ceylon.
Condolences to the family of Bernice Lehman who died recently.
Bernice was an active member of Ceylon’s organizations. She will be missed.
