Tractor ride coming up

It’s time to tune up your antique tractors for the Truman Classic Tractor Ride on July 23. Lineup begins 7:30 a.m. at Prairieland Solid Waste just northeast of Truman. You will leave at 8 a.m. driving east to the Tom Sackett corner, then south to Salic Seed for coffee/rolls, then southwest to Henway for a look around and an ice cream treat and then back to Truman for lunch in the park provided by CFS for all tractor participants. Truman Active Living group will meet 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Truman Museum. Any interested Truman resident or area resident who would like to see the community continue to provide and improve their facilities are invited to attend the meetings. They will welcome your input.
It’s time to prepare for the 2021-2022 sports season and Madelia Heath is helping athletes at Truman High School and Martin Lutheran High School who are entering grades 7-12 with a FREE sports physical. Truman Active Living Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) grant is sponsoring a bike essay contest for kids in grades 3-6. You must have completed 3rd-6th grade in the Truman Public Schools, St. Paul’s Lutheran School or have a Truman/Lewisville address. The topic for the essay is “What use would you make of a bicycle and why is bike safety important”? All essays must be turned in to either Truman City Hall or the Truman Public Library by 5 p.m. Friday, July 16. Entrants must be written on back side of each form which can be found at the Truman Pool, Truman City Hall, or the Truman Library. Winners will be announced 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the Truman Public Library. A bike will be the prize for the essay contest. The winner will be expected to ride in the Truman Days Parade on Saturday, July 24.
All friends and relatives are invited to an open house bridal shower for Leah Schloesser, bride-to-be of Kaleb Schwarz, son of Kiyla and Dennis Schwarz. The shower begins 10 a.m. July 17 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Vernon Center. The couple is registered at Target and Amazon.
