Welcome talks recycling needs
WELCOME — The Welcome City Council meeting began with public comments and questions. A resident asked if there could be a central location for recycling especially for cardboard. His cardboard was not picked up although it was flat and near the recycling bin. The council said they would look into it. They worried about residents putting garbage in
the recycling if they had a central location available.
League of MN City Insurance Trust Appraisals for city property were discussed with adjustments made on some amounts.
The local road improvement program grant application was not
accepted for Dugan Street. It was mentioned that applications for other near by towns were also turned down.
City employee, Max Longley, reported that the new swings were
installed at the city park across from city hall. The old poles from
the old swings were declared excess property by the council and
he may sell them or dispose of them. Longley is expecting three bids for the water treatment plant equipment by the end of the month.
The sealcoating was approved for the new roads made in the 2019 project in the north part of the city and the road maintenance in the south part of the city.
The city employee reported that the water meters were being
installed at about 15-20 per week.
Council reports included the Economic Development Association and City project for storage units to be built east of Welcome Meats.
There will be a meeting this week with Forsberg. He is planning to
build a retention pond and roads to the two plots where the storage units will be built.
The next meeting of the Welcome City Council is scheduled 6 p.m. on July 6 at Welcome City Hall.
