Sherburn council finalizes levy

SHERBURN — The Sherburn City Council met Monday, Dec. 21. They discussed the 2021 budget and finalized the tax levy at $500,000+ which was a 2.8 percent increase. They also approved two enterprise funds in the budget for the water and wastewater department, and the liquor store. The wastewater department and water department will be working on a new project during 2021 with bids and preliminary work for that $4 million improvement. The liquor store has had good sales of food with take outs. The sales on premises are somewhere

near 75 percent lower due to the pandemic.

The mayor appointed council members to committees similar to last year.

Employee reviews were discussed and Mayor Roessler remarked that they were done very well by the administrator. “The job descriptions

were interesting to know,” he remarked.

The council also approved a wage increase for the full-time employees and the administrator of 3 percent.

In the administrator’s report, Hughes remarked that the Temperance Lake Ridge November report was similar to the previous months and was profitable.
