Sherburn pool reopens

SHERBURN — Martin County West indoor swimming pool in Sherburn re-opened Monday with limited hours and activities.

At present, there is no open swimming or pool rental for parties, etc.

Adult fitness and aerobics swims will be held 6-7:30 a.m. and 5-6:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Special needs swimming will take place 6:30-7:30 p.m. each Wednesday.

Sherburn Theatre is once again open weekends with movies at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday night, and at 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Concessions also are available.

Restaurants in Sherburn have reopened with outdoor seating and limited indoor seating. They would all welcome your support.

Ruby’s Pantry will resume its distribution of food in East Chain beginning Saturday. Hours are 10-11:30 a.m. at the East Chain Evangelical Free Church, 507 280th Avenue. This distribution, like the ones in Sherburn, will be conducted in a drive-through procedure and you will not have to get out of your vehicle. You will need to make a $20 donation for the food. There are no income or residency requirements.

Martin County West office at the high school in Sherburn is now open from 7:30-11:30 a.m. every Wednesday throughout the summer. Normal office hours will resume Aug. 10.

If you have not already pre-registered your child for MCW preschool, do not delay.

Children who are 3 years old before Sept. 1, 2020, are eligible for the 3-year-old program, which is two days per week. Students need to be 4 years old by Sept. 1, 2020, in order to attend the 4-year-old program, which is three days per week.

Scholarships are available for families who qualify.

Registration forms are available on the Martin County West school website.

Thanks to Sherburn Civic and Commerce members who have put in so much time painting and sprucing up some buildings, as well as the planters on Main Street. Their work is noticed and appreciated.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings are taking place Thursday evenings at the Sherburn Senior Center. Meetings begin at 8 p.m. They are open with social distancing rules in effect.
