Many events put on hold

WELCOME — The news, again, is mostly what’s NOT scheduled because of the coronavirus emergency for the area.

n

The following plans in April have been affected:

o There will not be a cleaning day or opening day for the Welcome Historical Society Museum on April 4.

o There will not be a meeting of the senior citizens group the first Monday next month, April 6.

o There will not be a meeting of the Martin County Relay For Life originally scheduled for April 6.

o Tuesday coffee hours scheduled for the month of April at Trinity Lutheran in Trimont will not be held.

o All churches in the area have cancelled activities for March and until further notice. Most have social media videos or encourage private devotions for the families.

o Schools are closed and are providing lunch for Martin County West students at bus stops in Welcome: 11:15 a.m. at Dugan Street/Weaver Street and 11:25 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Fairmont students bus stop will be 9:30 a.m. at the post office in Welcome. Contact the schools for more information.

Welcome Fire Department would like to thank those who donated masks for them this week. Your donation is appreciated.

Mayo Clinic Health System has a COVID-19 resource site at www.mayoclinichealthsystem.org/covid19 for contact information and up-to-date information and what to do if you have symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath).

Please stay home if that option is available. Take care and know that it will be better. Together we will all get through this. Prayers wouldn’t hurt. Appreciation for health care and other workers who must go to their jobs is also a good thing.
