Police: Truman man failed to register
FAIRMONT — A Truman man is facing a felony charge in Martin County.
Jonathan Michael Hall, 32, has been charged with knowingly violating registration requirements for a predatory offender, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
According to the complaint:
On March 26, 2019, a Fairmont police officer spoke to a detective from the Pontiac Police Department in Illinois. The detective stated he was working a failure to register case on Hall. He said Hall was a registered predatory offender in Illinois but had not registered since 2017, and had not registered in any other state as far as the detective knew.
The detective said he had seen on Facebook that a relative of Hall’s was living in Truman, and asked if the officer could locate Hall and interview him. The officer asked a second officer to check the Minnesota Predatory Offender site, where he confirmed that Hall was not registered. The officer checked with Truman City Hall and found that Hall’s relative had begun paying utilities on Sept. 1, 2018, at a residence in Truman.
The officer also found that Hall only had a suspended Illinois driver’s license. The officer referred the matter to the Truman Police Department for further investigation.
On March 27, 2019, a Truman police officer met with Hall at the residence in Truman. Hall agreed to come to the Martin County Law Enforcement Center for an interview.
Hall said he worked for Kerry Ingredients out of Gridley, Illinois, and the plant was shut down. In July 2018, Hall was then relocated to the plant in Blue Earth and began staying at the Holiday Inn in Fairmont. He said his family moved to Truman permanently on Sept. 2, 2018.
Hall said he eventually lost his job in Blue Earth and was unemployed until he was hired to work at Taco John’s in Fairmont.
Hall admitted he failed to transfer his residency, vehicle registration and license to the state of Minnesota within the required 60 days.
