American Legion Auxiliary to meet

The Fairmont American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 36, will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, at 300 Downtown Plaza. All members and individuals interested are encouraged to attend.

Kiwanis to meet

Early Risers Kiwanis of Fairmont will gather for their weekly breakfast at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, at The Ranch restaurant in Fairmont. A meeting at 6:50 a.m. will follow. The speaker of the meeting will be Joann Woodward of Fairmont Dollars for Scholars. ER Kiwanis will be getting an update from Joann on the Fairmont Dollars for Scholars program. The public is invited to attend.

FOH to host Jordanian vocalist Farah Siraj

Arts Midwest is bringing the Arabian flamenco jazz of Farah Siraj to Fairmont as part of Arts Midwest World Fest. During a weeklong residency in Fairmont, Farah Siraj will offer workshops in local schools and other community locations. She will perform live in concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 9, at the Red Rock Center for the Arts. Named Jordan’s Musical Ambassadress, Farah Siraj balances a career that spans the United States, Europe, and the Middle East, having performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the United Nations, Nobel Prize Hall, World Economic Forum, and Lincoln Center. As a humanitarian, Farah focuses on raising awareness about the consequences of war and violence and advocates for women’s rights, refugee rights, and animal rights. Farah Siraj’s visit to Fairmont is made possible by a partnership between Arts Midwest, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Minnesota State Arts Board, Visit Fairmont and The Fairmont Opera House.

Free testers at Recovery in Motion

Recovery in Motion in Fairmont will offer free-of-charge lifesaving Narcan nasal spray and fentanyl test strips to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 9 at 1100 Indus Street in Fairmont. Without the test strips, visitors can come and learn more about Recovery in Motion and its mission.

Red Rock to host Kidcasso

The Red Rock Center for the Arts (RRC) in Fairmont will host a Kidcasso Open Art Studio from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, at the RRC. This program is for toddlers to tween artists. Artists will rotate through various art stations. In celebration of the holiday, the craft theme will focus on Mother’s Day, which is on May 11.
