Fairmont to begin the first week of leaf pickup The City of Fairmont Park and Street Departments are preparing for the upcoming 2024 Curbside Leaf Pick-up. Crews will be making one pass through the City. The first week of the leaf pick-up will be Oct. 28 to Nov. 2. Please have leaves ready for pick-up by 7 a.m. on the Monday morning corresponding to your scheduled week. Leaves will be picked up during the entire week, therefore leaves may not be removed until Friday. Leaves should be placed in a windrow on the boulevard, within 5’ of the back of the curb. Ruby’s Pantry for distribution in East Chain Ruby’s Pantry will hold a food distribution from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the East Chain Evangelical Free Church in rural East Chain. The distribution will be conducted in a drive-thru procedure, and guests are not required to leave their vehicles. Guests are encouraged to clean out the trunk of their vehicle before arriving at the distribution. There are no income or residency guidelines. FOH to host Taiwanese ensemble band Arts Midwest is bringing the Taiwanese song and dance of A Moving Sound to Fairmont as part of Arts Midwest World Fest. Pianist performs Billy Joel and Elton John Phil Thompson, a pianist from Woodbury, will perform at the Red Rock Center for the Arts (RRC) at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19. He will be playing music by Billy Joel and Elton John in his tribute repertoire.
